Research Paper in Chicago

It’s typically used in Humanity disciplines and is among the most extensively used and respected designs in the US. This manual contains comprehensive guidelines about such issues as text arrangement, credits, and quotation.

When you cite research paper in this style, refrain from using in-text entries like those found in APA & MLA, but instead use either footnotes or endnotes. Insert a footnote, ensuring that the footnote number subsequently follows the full stop & is a regular number (1,2,3) rather than a Roman numeral (i, ii, iii).

When you cite in MLA, you receive a chance to give your research paper validity. It permits you to offer quotations in your content and helps you when crafting a bibliography. When asked to cite a quote, use normal in-sentence quotation marks if your section is 3 lines long or less.

If you have to cite a quote that is four lines or longer (eight lines or longer is the recommendation, but many educators suggest using block quotes for sections longer than four lines), you’ve got to use a blockquote. The sentence written before it has to terminate with a colon, and there should be a space between it and the blockquote.

Here are general specifications to abide by as you cite your research paper in Chicago.

  • Use a standard font, e.g., 12 pt. Times New Roman
  • Double-space all through, except block quotes, table titles, figure captions, & due date
  • Use 1-inch margins or larger
  • Indent paragraphs by 1⁄2 inch
  • Put page no. in the top right or bottom center
